It's scary - probably one of the scariest parts in I Am Legend when Will Smith's character finds Fred (or Frank?) somewhere he shouldn't be. I won't say any more because that may spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen a movie that's been out for practically five years (you need to go see it or admit you're never going to see it by this point). It isn't so much the action as it is watching his character...break down. When one lives a life of so much regiment that something that simple can screw you up that easily...it's harrowing. Good acting right there.

And if anyone still reads this thing you probably wonder why I'm remarking on that at all. Well, maybe my life's too regimented. Since shooting has wrapped, I've got to find things to do with my days. The farm thing is still an option, because I think that'd be fun, but I may invest in a 'where's there' sort of book for little day trips or something when I don't feel like being a lazy sack like I do today.

(Plus, his dog, Sam, is a total badass)

I'm starting to think a visit back to California when we get our next break may be in order. I've got a cushy life here, maybe it's time I go collect whatever's left there for me and bring it up here. Of course, I'd need someone to look after Sita for a couple days, but I don't think it'd be too hard to find someone. She has more fans around Portage than I do.

Also, looks like I'm working on a farm. That'll be a first for me, so I plan on stepping in manure every 20 paces like an old black and white movie buffoon. My luck, I'll be stuck on muck duty in the hen house instead of plowing fields or digging holes for fence posts. Either way, should beat the gym to keep me in shape during the hiatus.

Ready for those farmers markets to come back though. Going to try and see if my thumb's as black as I think it is. Herb Garden I'm going to build. Shouldn't be too hard, may need a hand with it though. I'll probably throw in some tomatoes and garlic along with the herbs. Thinking about mint, basil, dill, parsley, chives and cilantro. Got any others I should add and/or are easy to grow?

Anyone heard any more news about Andi? I recognized the van before I read what happened.

Viv? Need anything?

We should go see her, right? Take her flowers, that sort of thing?

It's Leap Day of a Leap Year.

That means only one thing.

Who wants to go drinking on February 29th? Last chance to do it for another 4 years.

This cold just had to come on Friday. It would figure that basically, the two days I have off have to be filled with a bag full of tissues and a stuffy nose. I bet if you set this grocery bag full of tissues on fire, a ghoul would coalescence out of the smoke. So, to keep myself busy, I've got a whole chicken in the crockpot. Well, it was in there yesterday. I've moved onto the next step of making the broth. This chicken rice soup I'll be making better be the best chicken soup of all time. It should cure what ails me...hopefully.

Fuck homemade bread right in the ass. It was all fine and dandy and rose three times for a cumulative 4 hours and then I go to get it out of the bread pan and it's a total pain in the ass and even as I removed the golden loaves (2 because I'll be damned if I'm having 4 loaves of homemade bread just for me) from the pan, I squished the sides and bottom. Why? I guess I need a longer spatula because the short one I have isn't doing me any favors.

Theses are the whitest problems on the planet.

Anyone want to get drunk tonight? Mind if you drive? I'm fucking sick of looking at my apartment. I think Sita's pretty tired of me, too.

Two things I've learned since I started using Breathe Right strips: I sleep much better and....my nose is a-symmetrical. The right side of the strip never stays down.

These are my Friday Night Thoughts(tm).

Hey Carlos. Remember that hotel where I made you my bitch? Would like to do it again. Tell me the name you called me and where I came. Let me bend you over again, I know you liked it.

I'm out of whiskey. What am I supposed to drink in my tea now? Too damn cold to go anywhere. I'm off to hibernate until the hiatus is over. Even Sita thinks it's too cold and does her business before I can even get my heart rate up.

Got another Bible from my folks. I'll add it to the stack they've been sending me since I was a teenager. I wonder if they think I just throw them away? I'm not totally heartless, just not my first choice in reading material.

Gotta scrounge up lunch/dinner. I made lasagna last night but stupidly froze it all. I'm too lazy this time of year to wait for it to defrost. These, my friends and coworkers, are first world problems.

Man, reality television is kind of bonkers. I took the plunge today and saw what Netflix had to bring to the table.

Toddlers and Tiaras? Anyone seen this show? Talia & Andi, if you make your kids do this kind of stuff? Well, I can't really do anything other than cheer, but I'll be giving you the look throughout it all. These parents who really are all in a bad way look-wise (as far as I've seen) enter their sons and daughters into these pageants. They don't understand why the 2-3-4-year-olds are sobbing before they go out on stage. Maybe because 2-3-4-year-olds shouldn't be shellacked in make-up and fake teeth and hair extensions? Yeah, that's my guess.

Oh shit! This mom is taking her two WEEK OLD son to a pageant to compete and hopes he has 'stage presence'. Two weeks old. The kid can't even hold his head up on his own. The hell is wrong with her?

But it's grabbed me. I can't stop watching this episode after episode train wreck.

To all those pregnant women out there, spare the curlers and save the child.

MY EYES.

I should know better than to make french onion soup in December. My windows are open and the fans are on and the heat is pumped up because damn, I look like I smoked a whole water bong on my own.

I mean...if that's a thing, I don't know. Weed's always made me sick.

I have puffy eyes and feel like each blink is worth 10 pounds in the weight room. If your eyelids had to lift 10 pounds by themselves, you'd know what I mean.

I'm also making so much food and it's not even for me. Andi dear? You aren't allergic to coconut are you? Because....I'm going to throw it at you when the baby is born. Which is a lame excuse. You're getting something cooked with coconut WHY WON'T THIS ONION STENCH LEAVE?

Luckily, time to walk Sita.

Are giftcards to parents you don't speak to OK? Or is that one of those things one shouldn't do? Fucking onions!

Thanksgiving sneaked up on me this year. I guess I need to defrost the Cornish Game Hen I have in my freezer. I just need to figure out how to do it. I'm glad they make mashed potatoes in bags now, I hate peeling and boiling potatoes just to have something to eat. Anyone ever do half potato, half cauliflower? It's a pretty good substitute for all those carbs. Pepper helps. Cranberries are key this year, so I want to see what I can do with them, even if I have an arm in a sling and two black eyes.

That last part is worse-case-scenario, so hopefully I'll have two hands to use in the kitchen.

I need to head out to Petco some time and get Sita some Christmas gifts...then watch her sniff them out well before the holiday and have to go out and get her some more.

I'm probably the dullest person related to the show.

Is this real life?

I don't think my homemade potato soup and rising bread dough will get me onto TMZ.

But I've got homemade potato soup and bread if anyone's hungry?

I'm kind of in shock.

You don't know me, but I know your assistant. I've been trying to get ahold of him since the wedding and all I've been getting is voicemail. Haven't seen him around, either. You didn't fire him, did you? have any clue if he went on vacation or something?
[/Private to Brian]

Now that Halloween's over, I guess the next big holiday is Thanksgiving. I just wish they'd push the 'holiday/Christmas' commercials back until at least mid-November. All it's doing is reminding me I have to order gifts of Amazon and get them mailed to my family. Amazon Prime is totally worth it, FYI. Now I just have to figure out if Sita's been naughty or nice this year. Unfortunately, she'd probably eat a lump of coal.

What's the fastest rate someone can grow a goatee/mustache combo?

Because I'm going to see if I can pull one out by Saturday night.

This isn't a dog journal, promise. But, it is surprising how readily Sita is willing to watch The Walking Dead opposed to a horror movie. I'm guessing she likes the plot.

By the way? I almost died today. But...that's every day when I work with Andi.

It was awesome.

Calling all Cobblers.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Not sure I can look Andrea in the eye right now. Or...next week. Welp, work still has to get done. This is all I have going for me anyway.

Even though it's October, Sita doesn't seem all that pleased that all I want to watch is horror movies. This sounds stupid, but I have a pair of shoes that she totally raged on. Anyone practice the fine art of cobbler(ing?) around here? They're pretty great shoes so I'd rather save them if I could.
